OT: Spot Jenny's New Novel and Enter a Contest to Win a Free Copy of Blood Sugar 101

As those of you who are friends of this blog know, after many years of writing novels for fun, I sold a three book series of historical romances to Avon a little over a year ago. The first of those books, Lord Lightning, is now on bookstore shelves around the U.S.A..

The photo below shows me admiring the first copy of book I ever spotted in a store. It was the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Holyoke, MA. As you can imagine this was an exciting moment.

I'm really curious about where else Lord Lightning might be showing up, so I'm calling on all my web friends to help me out and let me know if Lord Lightning made it to the shelves in your town. To encourage you to participate I've created a contest and will be offering offering prizes to randomly selected people who report their book spottings.

UPDATE: The contest is now over so links to it have been removed. The winners were drawn on November 1, 2010 and notified by email. Congratulations to Birdy who won the copy of Blood Sugar 101.

I really appreciated the photos people sent in. Seeing my book displayed in so many different places around the US and Canada was a thrill. Seeing it on people's Kindles and Nooks was great too.

My editor tells me the book is selling well which is great news in today's difficult economic environment. Thanks to everyone who bought a copy. I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Hi Jenny! I'll keep an eye out for this one. Not sure if I'll be blushing or secretly tickled (oh, that cover!), knowing it's written by one of the most seriously kick-posterior diabetes bloggers around. Either way, I'm looking forward to a good read! Congrats!!!

That cover is something, isnt it! But the chains buyers loved it, and that's why publishers do them that way.

In reality, my heroine is a prim spinster and my hero a jaded aristocrat. But after a few months of living with that cover, I've become rather fond of Surfer Boy and his Floozie.

I didn't make it as far as a bookstore, went right to Amazon and downloaded the book on my Kindle. As soon as I shut this computer down tonight, I get to start reading it. Fun! I love it.

Congratulations, Jenny!

That's quite an accomplishment. From what I've read about brick-and-mortar store sales, you have only 3-4 months on the shelf, unless it really takes off. Good luck!

Jan, Glad you're enjoying it. You can enter the contest with a picture of your Kindle.

Dr. Steve,

What you heard is true. And the other thing that is true is that if the book doesn't sell well during those few months, the author is unlikely to be able to publish more.

Hmmm, there's a kindle version? That's an idea. I have the kindle for iPad app so I'll see if that works. No worries about lurid cover issues that way! I'll admit, the bodice buster cover was a hurdle for me...

Holyoke! Well, this would be too easy for me.

Congratulations, Jenny!

Hi, everyone, I pre-ordered it for my iPad Kindle and read it in the next two days. I love the book! It is an exciting read and a thrilling romance. The planets line up perfectly and Lord Lightning strikes rapture in your heart! Personally, I love the cover ^_^

Priscilla, I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. It would really help get the word out if you'd post what you posted here as a review over on Amazon since you bought it there.

Enter the contest, too!

LOL! I did purchase your book at B&N in Hadley, MA. Ooh la la.

I guess the Barnes & Noble in San Mateo is too "serious" to have much of a romance section. A two-story store, and only 1 aisle of romance novels. Oy. On the other hand, I was sans phone today, so I would not have been able to get a photo. Oh well. I'll keep looking....

LOL, I'd love to read your book, but I have to confess I could never bring myself to buy a book with that sort of cover! But congrats on getting published, that's a really cool accomplishment. I'll have to see if I see your book in the store.

Gee, if I had a Kindle I could get a copy that way I see, and not have to worry about the cover, hehehehe.

I found your book today in B&N and posted my pic. It is a bit blurry cause the kind person taking the picture had never used a phone to take a picture. Took her a few tries to get that one.

I don't usually read romance books, but I will get this one for my Kindle. Blood Sugar 101 was great so maybe I will like this one too.
